According to the China Securities Journal, on January 18th, Hainan's free trade port closure has reached one month. Benefiting from the popularity and policy dividends brought by the closure, duty-free shopping on the island continues to heat up. It is reported that from December 18, 2025 to January 17, 2026, Haikou Customs supervised duty-free shopping on the island totaling 48.6 billion yuan, an increase of 46.8% compared to the previous year; the number of shoppers was 745,000, an increase of 30.2% compared to the previous year; and the number of items purchased was 3.494 million, an increase of 14.6% compared to the previous year.
