Portugal holds the first round of presidential elections.

On January 18th local time, Portugal held the first round of voting for the new presidential election. It is widely believed that the competition in this election is fierce. Surveys show that as many as 5 candidates have a chance to enter the second round, and the probability of producing a final winner in the first round is low. If no one receives more than half of the valid votes, the second round of voting will be held on February 8th.
