However, the International Olympic Committee has stated that they refuse to do so. American media reported that the International Olympic Committee has ruled out the possibility of imposing any punishment on the United States for this matter. In a statement to Fox News, the International Olympic Committee said, "As a global organization, the International Olympic Committee must deal with complex realities. We must address current political situations and the latest developments in the world." The statement also said, "The International Olympic Committee cannot directly intervene in the political affairs or conflicts between nations, as this is beyond our scope of authority. This falls under the realm of political affairs."
