Liu Shijin: Building a Strong Consumer Nation to Help Achieve Long-Term Growth Goals.
On the 17th, Liu Shijin, the chief consultant of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development and former deputy director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, said at the 27th Peking University Guanghua New Year Forum that China's economic growth is shifting from being driven mainly by investment and exports to being driven mainly by innovation and consumption. He proposed that the focus should shift from the supply side orientation of emphasizing industrial and material capital investment to the demand side orientation of emphasizing consumption and human capital investment. In response to this, Liu Shijin suggested building a strong consumption country to help achieve long-term growth goals, implementing a strategy of basic balance in imports and exports, speeding up the internationalization of the yuan, and encouraging local liberation of thinking, bold exploration, and pioneering.
