On January 17, 2026, the National Medical Security Administration held a symposium in Beijing on the support of the medical insurance drug and medical device trading and pricing platform to promote Chinese pharmaceutical equipment going global. Representatives from national ministries, international organizations in China, financial institutions, drug and medical device trading and pricing platforms, pharmaceutical companies, and news media, totaling more than 400 people, participated in discussions on how to better utilize the functions of the medical insurance drug and medical device trading and pricing platform, establish a policy and service support system for going global, and engage in in-depth exchanges. The National Medical Security Administration fully deployed to support the strategy of Chinese pharmaceutical equipment going global, listing "relying on the regional advantages of various centralized procurement trading platforms," "creating an innovative model for international pharmaceutical procurement in medical security," "leveraging the multiple price discovery functions of the Chinese drug price registration system," and "enhancing the international level of the Chinese pharmaceutical industry" as key tasks for 2026. Actively promoting the specialized and differentiated development of medical insurance drug and medical device trading platforms in Guangxi, Xinjiang, Tianjin, Zhejiang Ningbo, and others, targeting Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and other countries along the Belt and Road initiative to build pharmaceutical equipment trading platforms; guiding the construction of the Chinese drug price registration system to provide enterprises with authoritative, standardized, and transparent market price registration query services worldwide, helping enterprises establish a global pharmaceutical price system, striving to make China the most important global innovative drug launching site, and providing reference prices for innovative drugs globally.
