Recently, CIMC Annurui's green methanol project with an annual output of 50,000 tons was announced to be put into operation in Zhanjiang, Guangdong. This is the first mass-produced bio-methanol project in China and has attracted attention from all parties. In recent years, the popularity of the green methanol track has soared, with investment projects being announced intensively. By the end of last year, there were already 51 million tons of planned green methanol production capacity nationwide. However, in stark contrast to the fervent investment, there are not many projects like CIMC Annurui that have actually been put into operation. Industry insiders admit that the green methanol industry has broad prospects, but still faces multiple challenges in technology, industrial chain, and energy adaptation, urgently requiring the entire industry to work together to solve them. Some industry insiders have expressed that although the idea of producing methanol from green electricity is ideal, it will face energy adaptation contradictions - the electricity generation from wind and solar power is highly affected by weather and season, exhibiting natural instability. On the other hand, in order for green methanol production lines to operate, they need continuous and stable power supply to ensure economic viability.
