US Energy Secretary: The United States is rapidly expanding Chevron's license scope in Venezuela.
United States Secretary of Energy Chris Wright said on Friday that the United States is expediting the approval of Chevron's expansion of oil production in Venezuela. Wright said that the United States plans to allow Chevron to compensate the Venezuelan government in cash instead of oil, which will enable the company to sell all of the oil it produces in Venezuela. "They will immediately become another oil seller," he said in a brief interview at the Department of Energy headquarters. Chevron did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
