Journalist learned from relevant departments of the State Administration of Taxation on January 16 that tax authorities continue to strengthen the publicity and guidance on the taxation of personal overseas income, reminding taxpayers to self-check the income obtained from overseas from 2022 to 2024 since last year. According to laws and regulations such as the Tax Collection and Administration Law, if taxpayers do not declare taxes or miscalculate, leading to non-payment or underpayment of taxes, tax authorities can recover taxes and late fees within three years; if it constitutes tax evasion, they will be dealt with according to the law. It is an internationally recognized practice for residents to pay personal income tax on income obtained domestically and internationally, which is conducive to preventing cross-border tax evasion and safeguarding national tax rights and interests. The tax authorities remind that paying taxes according to the law is the duty of every citizen, and if taxpayers find that they have not declared overseas income as required, they should correct and declare it promptly according to the law.
