In order to implement the "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" and actively participate in the construction of the Greater Bay Area, the Macao SAR Public Security Police Force, Identification Services Bureau, Macao Security Forces Affairs Bureau, and Hong Kong Immigration Department have been working together to optimize customs clearance facilitation measures between Hong Kong and Macao. The above-mentioned departments have jointly decided that starting from January 19, 2026, permanent residents of Hong Kong and Macao can use each other's self-service clearance channels, and the applicable age limit will be lowered from 11 years old to 7 years old. In addition, non-permanent residents over 18 years old in both places can use local self-service kiosks for pre-registration, and after successful registration, they can enter and exit using the self-service clearance channel of the other side within approximately 3 hours.
