The French Ministry of Health, Family, Autonomy, and Disabled Persons announced on the 14th that the country has initiated the "2026-2030 Obesity Population Medical Care Roadmap" to address the issue of obesity among the population. France has previously identified obesity as an important public health issue, recognizing it as a chronic disease, establishing specialized obesity centers, and implementing a care model based on interdisciplinary collaboration. However, the obesity rate is still increasing, occurring at a younger age, and intersecting with social, economic, and regional inequalities, leading to serious complications, decreased quality of life, and difficulties in accessing healthcare. In this context, the roadmap proposes four objectives: to curb the growth trend of obesity and improve the health status of the affected population; to increase the accessibility of personalized, local, and sustainable medical services; to increase the number of professionals who have received training on raising awareness of obesity; and to support innovative healthcare pathways and models that cover all levels.
