On January 11, U.S. President Trump threatened to cut off all oil and funds flowing into Cuba. In this context, the island nation of Cuba, which already faces widespread power outages and shortages of goods, is now facing an even more uncertain future. Cubans must prepare for the impending impact. It is known that Cuba's domestic oil production is currently around 40,000 barrels per day, only enough to meet about one-third of domestic consumption needs. Due to limitations in refining equipment, Cuba's domestically produced oil cannot undergo extensive processing and is mainly used for power generation in thermal power plants. According to shipping data and internal documents from Venezuela's national oil company, Venezuela, as Cuba's largest oil supplier, has not shipped any oil or fuel to Cuba for about a month. Mexican President Lpez Obrador recently stated that, due to changing circumstances, Mexico has become an important oil supplier to Cuba.
