The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council holds a routine press conference. A reporter asked about a report from a certain American think tank. Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian stated that some American so-called think tanks are only interested in money and have ulterior motives. They are accustomed to using academic pretenses to sell the "Mainland Threat Theory," exaggerate tensions in the Taiwan Strait, and sow discord among compatriots on both sides of the strait, serving their attempts to "contain China through Taiwan." Zhu Fenglian emphasized: First, Taiwan is an integral part of China, and the Taiwan issue is purely China's internal affair. How to solve the Taiwan issue is up to the Chinese people, and no external interference is allowed. Second, achieving complete reunification of the motherland is in line with the common aspirations and fundamental interests of the Chinese nation; it is a just cause, not an attack as claimed by some. Third, the Taiwan issue is a core interest of China, and nobody should underestimate our strong determination and firm will to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Zhu Fenglian stated that there is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is a part of China; this is the true current situation in the Taiwan Strait. The Democratic Progressive Party authorities stubbornly adhere to the separatist stance of "Taiwan independence" and collude with external forces to provoke "independence," which is the root cause of disturbances and instability in the Taiwan Strait, endangering peace and stability. "Taiwan independence" and peace in the Taiwan Strait are incompatible. To maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, it is necessary to firmly oppose "Taiwan independence," a stance that is clear to people on both sides of the strait and the international community.
