State Council Taiwan Affairs Office: Willing to maintain constructive interactions with Taiwan political parties, including the Chinese Nationalist Party, and individuals from all walks of life
On January 14th, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. A reporter asked about reports from Taiwanese media that the "Cross-Strait Forum" will take place in Beijing and that senior Kuomintang officials will visit the mainland. Can this be confirmed? The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has questioned whether the Kuomintang obstructed military procurement cases in exchange for tickets to the "Cross-Strait Forum" and has urged the Kuomintang not to cooperate with mainland Chinese "united front" propaganda. What is your comment on this? Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian responded by saying that our position is very clear. We are willing to strengthen exchanges and interactions with Taiwan political parties, groups, and individuals, including the Kuomintang, on the basis of upholding the "1992 Consensus" and opposing "Taiwan independence", in order to promote peaceful cross-strait relations and benefit both sides. If there is any information in this regard, we will promptly release it. Zhu Fenglian pointed out that the DPP authorities stubbornly adhere to a "Taiwan independence" separatist stance, attempting to achieve independence with foreign support and military means, spreading rumors, slandering, obstructing, and sabotaging normal cross-strait exchanges and interactions, inciting anti-China sentiment, creating green terror, and deceiving Taiwan people for political gain. Their actions completely contradict the mainstream public opinion in Taiwan, which seeks peace, development, exchanges, and cooperation, seriously harming the vital interests of Taiwan compatriots and pushing Taiwan into a turbulent and dangerous situation. Various sectors of Taiwanese society have already expressed strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to this.
