National Health Commission: Nasal virus or herpes virus infection should not be treated with antiviral medications without medical supervision.
The National Health Commission held the first press conference of 2026 today, introducing the relationship between seasonal weather and health. Recently, various respiratory pathogens have been circulating. Some children have just recovered from the flu, only to be infected with rhinovirus or paraic virus. Some parents believe that these are all viral infections and can be treated with antiviral drugs such as oseltamivir, but experts remind that this is incorrect. Oseltamivir only has therapeutic effects on influenza A and B viruses, and has no effect on other respiratory viruses such as rhinovirus and paraic virus. Therefore, testing results should support the use of oseltamivir.
