Ministry of Ecology and Environment: During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, around 200 cities will be promoted to carry out the construction of "zero waste cities".
On January 13th, the State Council Information Office held a regular policy briefing on the "Action Plan for Comprehensive Management of Solid Waste", introducing relevant information. Li Gao, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, stated that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, they have promoted the construction of "zero-waste cities" in 113 cities and 8 regions nationwide. In the process of construction, over 3000 solid waste management projects have been implemented, with an investment of approximately 560 billion yuan. During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, they will promote the construction of "zero-waste cities" in around 200 cities, and actively promote the regional cooperation of "zero-waste cities" in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Yangtze River Midstream Urban Agglomeration, and Chengdu-Chongqing region. They will also conduct a thorough assessment of the progress of smart city construction, identify development weaknesses accurately, and focus on effectively addressing the real problems of solid waste in participating cities.
