The Ministry of Civil Affairs held a special press conference on the morning of January 13 to introduce the relevant situation of the "Several Measures for Cultivating Elderly Care Service Providers and Promoting the Development of Silver Economy." Guo Hanqiao, Deputy Director of the Ageing Work Department of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, stated that they will promote the deep integration of elderly care facilities and consumption scenarios, making age-appropriate products and services more convenient and accessible. By leveraging county-level comprehensive elderly care service management platforms, street-level elderly care service centers, community elderly care service sites, and various types of elderly service facilities such as senior activity centers, tailored elderly product showcases, leasing and sales facilities will be created based on local conditions. Support will be provided to areas with conditions to revitalize idle inventory resources, plan and construct characteristic elderly shopping districts, age-appropriate product rental and sales outlets, making it convenient for the elderly to experience and consume nearby. At the same time, e-commerce platforms will be encouraged and guided to optimize the "senior model", establishing exclusive channels for silver-haired consumerism and simplifying operational procedures. Additionally, support will be provided for large commercial complexes and chain supermarkets to open age-appropriate consumption zones, facilitating online and offline consumption for the elderly.
