The Ministry of Civil Affairs and seven other departments recently released a set of measures to foster the development of elderly care service providers and promote the growth of the silver economy. The measures encourage research and development in elderly care technology and products. They also emphasize the upgrade of digital intelligence in the elderly care service sector, incorporating big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and Beidou technology into services such as health monitoring, safety alerts, and personalized customization for the elderly. The measures also support the development of the elderly care service robot industry, promoting collaboration and technological integration across industries such as robotics, medical rehabilitation, and smart homes to provide comprehensive smart elderly care support. Additionally, the measures aim to accelerate the research and development of technologies such as intelligent body technology, emerging materials technology, genetic technology, and rehabilitation aids to provide technological support for elderly people with declining physical function. The measures also support the verification of product technologies, encourage the embedding of intelligent elderly care equipment and rehabilitation nursing robots developed by enterprises into elderly care service institutions, promote the use of new technologies and products, and enhance the elderly user experience through services sharing, equipment leasing, pilot testing, and other methods, in order to accelerate the transformation and technological iteration of products for the elderly. Cooperation between various elderly care service institutions and intelligent elderly care product development enterprises is also supported, with the aim of establishing intelligent elderly care product display and experience zones in community comprehensive service centers to introduce more elderly people to age-appropriate technology.
