U.S. media: Indian companies halt major projects due to lack of Chinese technology.
Bloomberg reported on the 12th that after failing to obtain Chinese technology, India's Reliance Industries has halted its plans to produce lithium batteries in India. The report says that this reflects that even India's strongest companies are facing significant difficulties in establishing an independent clean energy supply chain. The report states that sources revealed that Reliance Industries had originally planned to start production of batteries this year and had been in talks with a Chinese company for battery technology licensing. The source claimed that due to Chinese regulations on overseas transfer of key technologies, the company withdrew from the proposed cooperation and negotiations are currently at a standstill. However, Reuters reported on the 12th that a spokesperson for Reliance Industries denied any changes to their renewable energy plans, including the planned operation of a battery super factory in 2026. The spokesperson stated in an email, "Battery storage system manufacturing, battery pack manufacturing, and cell manufacturing have always been part of our energy storage plans and are progressing smoothly."
