The Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Committee has ordered the closure of illegal prisons and detention centers across the country.

On January 12th, local time, the Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Committee, Ali Mimi, ordered the closure of all illegal prisons and detention centers in the provinces controlled by the Yemeni government, and the immediate release of all individuals detained outside of the legal framework. According to the relevant instructions, Ali Mimi instructed security and military institutions to coordinate with the prosecution and the Ministry of Justice to conduct a comprehensive inspection of illegal detention locations in provinces such as Aden, Lahj, and Dali'ah, and to develop an emergency plan for their closure. The directive stipulates that individuals found to be detained in illegal locations should be transferred to formally established detention facilities that are legally regulated; if no legitimate charges can be confirmed, they should be released immediately.
