On the 12th, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited Africa and made a stopover in Sri Lanka on his way back, where he had a friendly meeting with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Herat. Wang Yi stated that China and Sri Lanka have a long-standing tradition of friendship. Last year, President Xi Jinping's successful meeting with President Sirisena set new strategic guidelines for bilateral relations. China empathizes with Sri Lanka for the recent severe hurricane disaster, and we extended a helping hand immediately. We believe that the people of Sri Lanka will soon overcome the disaster, rebuild their beautiful homes, and achieve greater development. China is willing to exchange governance experience with Sri Lanka, expand practical cooperation in various fields, facilitate friendly exchanges between people, deepen the sincere mutual assistance and generational friendship strategic partnership between China and Sri Lanka, and promote the construction of a community of shared future between China and Sri Lanka.
