How to ensure food quality and safety in entrusted production? New national regulatory rules are about to be released.
Recently, the counterfeit incident of "Antarctic krill oil" by Tong Ren Tang revealed issues of irregularities in the consumer industry's outsourcing production practices. In response, the State Administration for Market Regulation announced on December 25th that they will soon release the "Supervision and Management Measures for Food Outsourcing Production", which will include supervision and management of food production entrusted through methods such as trademark authorization, franchising, raw material processing, and customized production. The responsibilities for food quality and safety between both parties in outsourcing will be clearly defined, and relevant regulatory system requirements will be strengthened. Public information shows that as early as January last year, the State Administration for Market Regulation had already issued a draft of the "Supervision and Management Measures for Food Outsourcing Production", with a consultation period from January 9, 2024, to February 8, 2024. However, the official implementation of this draft has not yet been finalized. Industry insiders believe that the Tong Ren Tang "fake krill oil" incident is expected to accelerate the implementation of these measures.
