Former Thai prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will run for the next prime minister.

The Democrat Party of Thailand announced on the 26th that the party leader and former Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, along with two others, will run as Democrat Party candidates in the next election as Prime Minister. The Democrat Party of Thailand released a campaign video on social media that day, announcing the party's three candidates, namely Abhisit Vejjajiva, Deputy Party Leader and former Minister of Finance Korn Chatikavanij, and also Deputy Party Leader Gandi Lao Pare. In the campaign video, Abhisit stated that in order for Thailand to overcome poverty, it must start with establishing a clean political system and increasing transparency in all systems. Abhisit served as Prime Minister of Thailand from 2008 to 2011. After losing in the 2019 election, Abhisit resigned from the position of party leader of the Democrat Party and left the party in 2023. In October 2025, Abhisit returned to the Democrat Party and once again became the party leader.
