The blizzard disrupted holiday travel plans at airports in New York City.
As a winter storm sweeps through New York City and the surrounding areas, hundreds of flights have been canceled at the major airports in New York. According to the aviation tracking service company "FlightAware," at least 400 international and domestic flights have been canceled, with many more experiencing delays. Airports such as LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, as well as nearby Newark Airport, have been severely affected. Meteorologist Richard Bann of the National Weather Service said late Thursday that heavy snow is expected to begin falling in New York City and Long Island from Friday afternoon to Saturday, with snowfall amounts of up to 8 inches. As the storm gradually weakens, snowfall amounts are expected to increase further.
