Ministry of Ecology and Environment: Significant achievements have been made in the battle for protecting the ecological environment and in the campaign to control pollution in agriculture and rural areas.

On December 26th, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment held its routine press conference for December. Zhao Shixin, Director of the Soil Ecology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, introduced that since the 14th Five-Year Plan period, significant progress has been made in the battle for clean soil and the control of agricultural and rural pollution. Firstly, the basic change in national soil environmental quality has effectively controlled risks. Major projects to control soil pollution sources have been completed, efforts to trace and rectify heavy metal pollution in agricultural land at the county level have been promoted, classification management of agricultural land has been carried out, and control of soil pollution risks in construction land has been strengthened. Secondly, the overall quality of groundwater environment has been maintained stable, effectively curbing the trend of pollution aggravation. Key supervision units have been organized to carry out hidden danger investigation and rectification, and the overall quality of groundwater environment at national control points has remained stable. Thirdly, rural ecological environment has significantly improved, and the construction of beautiful villages has been deepened. The tasks of comprehensive rural environmental improvement and rural domestic sewage treatment have been completed beyond the target, and the elimination of large areas of rural black and odorous water bodies has been basically achieved.
