According to the Zhixin Financial APP, the State Administration for Market Regulation announced on December 26th that the national standard "Limits of energy consumption for electric vehicles Part 1: Passenger cars" (GB 36980.1-2025) will be implemented starting from January 1, 2026. This standard is the world's first mandatory standard for energy consumption limits for electric vehicles. The standard takes into account the current energy consumption status of pure electric passenger cars, the potential for energy-saving technologies, cost control, and the performance of electric energy consumption for special vehicle types. It sets out energy consumption limits for different vehicle weights, with an increase of about 11% compared to the previous recommended standard. It also proposes indicator requirements that are suitable for different vehicle models with different usage characteristics and technological features. This effectively takes into account the diverse development needs of vehicle models and provides guidance for the research and application of energy-saving technologies in the future.
