In Jiangmen, Guangdong, a car plunged into a river from a construction levee, resulting in the death of a family of five.

The reporter learned from the relevant departments of Jiangmen City on the 25th that on the afternoon of December 13th, a car fell into the river at the construction wharf of the Nanxin Expressway Xijiang Super Bridge in Heshan City, Jiangmen, Guangdong, causing the death of a family of five in the car. It is understood that the Xijiang Super Bridge is a key controlling project of the entire Nanxin Expressway, which started construction at the end of 2024. The construction unit is China Railway Guangzhou Engineering Bureau. The construction wharf of the Xijiang Super Bridge is normally only used for construction vehicles to enter and exit. After the incident, the construction site has been cordoned off and work has been suspended. The investigation into the cause of the incident and the follow-up work are ongoing.
