The Hunan Provincial Government and the Ministry of Natural Resources jointly establish Hunan University of Science and Technology.

According to Hunan Daily, recently, the strategic cooperation between the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Natural Resources to jointly build Hunan University of Science and Technology has officially begun. As the main co-building entity, Hunan University of Science and Technology has identified five key focus areas: taking interdisciplinary approaches such as "intelligent manufacturing + natural resources" and "ecology + natural resources" as guiding principles, comprehensively promoting the construction of a first-class university with distinctive characteristics; strengthening cooperation with institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping, jointly applying for doctoral degree authorization points, and nurturing the creation of national-level science and technology innovation platforms; comprehensively promoting the construction of a highland for talent cultivation in natural resources, actively promoting school-enterprise dual-way job rotation training in the field of natural resources, building a first-class undergraduate program group, and providing 3-8 comprehensive interdisciplinary courses every year for the cadre network learning platform of the Ministry of Natural Resources; focusing on resource security, ecological protection, and digital empowerment, strengthening collaborative research in natural resource science and technology to solve industry development bottlenecks; integrating interdisciplinary resources to create a multi-dimensional and open natural resource university think tank, strengthening cooperation with industry think tank alliances, and providing support for scientific decision-making in the natural resources sector. It is reported that the agreement is valid until December 31, 2030.
