The reporter learned from the China Railway Group that the Wuhan to Yichang section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu high-speed railway along the Yangtze River will open for operation tomorrow. The fastest travel time from Wuhan to Yichang will be 69 minutes, creating a new rapid passenger transportation channel between the Jianghan Plain and the western Hubei region. The Wuhan-Yichang section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu high-speed railway is 314 kilometers long, designed for a speed of 350 kilometers per hour, with 8 stations including Hankou, Hanchuan North, Tianmen, Jingshan South, Zhongxiang South, Jingmen West, Dangyang West, and Yichang North. This section is an important part of China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network along the Yangtze River, connecting to the Wuhan hub in the east and linking to the under construction Yichang to Xingshan and Yichang to Fuling high-speed railways in the west. After the line opens for operation, it will form a dual high-speed railway channel between Wuhan and Yichang along with the existing Shanghai-Chongqing high-speed railway, facilitating travel for people along the route and promoting high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
