The Taiwan Affairs Office warns the DPP authorities: stop arbitrarily detaining mainland fishing boats and people, otherwise you will bear all consequences.
On the morning of December 24th, the Taiwan Affairs Office held a routine press conference in the press room, spokesperson Peng Qingen answered questions from reporters on recent cross-strait hot issues. A reporter from Fujian Xiamen TV asked: Recently, mainland coast guard vessels entered the "restricted waters" of Kinmen for law enforcement patrols again. Does the Taiwan Affairs Office have any information on this, and what is your comment on this? The spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office Peng Qingen stated that Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu are all part of China. The waters between Xiamen and Kinmen have always been traditional fishing grounds for fishermen from both sides. There is fundamentally no such thing as "restricted or limited waters." The mainland coast guard department conducts regular law enforcement patrols in the relevant waters, which is beneficial for maintaining order in maritime operations and safeguarding the safety of fishermen from both sides. The DPP authorities are warned to recognize the history and objective facts of fishermen from both sides operating in traditional fishing grounds together, and to stop arbitrarily detaining or even using dangerous and violent methods against mainland fishing vessels. Otherwise, they must bear all consequences.
