The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. Spokesperson Peng Qing'en stated that the U.S. inserted incorrect content related to Taiwan in the "2026 National Defense Authorization Act," attempting to further "arm Taiwan" and interfere in China's internal affairs, sending a serious wrong signal to the separatist forces of "Taiwan independence." We strongly oppose and firmly reject this. We demand that the U.S. abide by the One China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-U.S. Joint Communiqus, refrain from implementing the Taiwan-related clauses of the act and eliminate the negative impact, handle the Taiwan issue with caution. We warn the Democratic Progressive Party authorities that no matter how they "rely on the U.S. for independence," they cannot change the fact that Taiwan is a part of China, cannot change the inevitable defeat of "Taiwan independence," and cannot stop the inevitable trend of China's reunification.
