Ministry of Transport: Accelerate the construction of modern transportation infrastructure system and implement the connectivity project for inland waterway transportation system.

Liu Wei, Secretary of the Party Group and Minister of the Ministry of Transport, stated that they will accelerate the construction of a modern transportation infrastructure system. They will promote the construction of cross-regional and cross-basin major transportation corridors, accelerate the completion of the main framework of the national comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network consisting of "6 axes, 7 corridors, and 8 channels"; implement the interconnection project of the inland waterway transportation system, and accelerate the formation of a high-speed railway network with the main trunk corridors of the "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railways as the backbone, connected by regional high-speed railways; implement a new round of rural road improvement actions. They will further develop the international comprehensive transportation hub clusters of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Greater Bay Area of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao, and Chengdu-Chongqing region, promote the construction of the national port hub system, national comprehensive airport system, and national postal express hub system; strengthen the construction of comprehensive transportation hub cities, accelerate the improvement of hub city ports, transportation hubs, internal connections, and external connections systems, and enhance the agglomeration and radiation capabilities of hub city clusters. They will strengthen the interconnection and interoperability of transportation infrastructure, improve the national comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network with railways as the backbone, roads as the foundation, and fully utilizing the comparative advantages of water transport and civil aviation; promote the updating and digital transformation of existing transportation infrastructure.
