The Venezuelan National Assembly passed an anti-piracy law, violators can be sentenced to 20 years in prison.
On December 23rd, the Venezuelan National Assembly unanimously approved the "Law for the Protection of Navigation and Trade Freedom from Acts of Piracy, Blockades and other Illegal International Actions". The law specifically states that anyone who promotes, incites, requests, cites, supports, assists, harbors, finances or participates in acts of piracy, blockades, or other illegal international actions against Venezuela and its institutions conducting commercial activities will be sentenced to 15 to 20 years in prison and fined.
