China's deposit of ratification for the "Convention on Biological Diversity in the Oceans"

The United Nations official website announced on the 23rd that China deposited the instrument of ratification of the "Agreement on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea" with United Nations Secretary-General Guterres on the 15th of this month. The Agreement is an important international treaty under the United Nations framework, with the goal of conserving and sustainably using marine biodiversity, focusing on four major areas including deep-sea genetic resources, marine protected areas, environmental impact assessment, and capacity building, building further legal norms for deep-sea activities of countries and profoundly affecting the international maritime order.
