Report: The White House is considering allocating part of the wildlife protection area to SpaceX.
Documents show that the Trump administration is considering transferring nearly 800 acres of land within a federal wildlife refuge in Texas to SpaceX, a rocket and satellite manufacturer owned by Elon Musk. The company plans to use this land to expand its rocket launch and production facility in Cameron County, Texas. The documents also indicate that, as part of the exchange, SpaceX will transfer hundreds of acres of its own land to the government, with some parcels located about 20 miles away from the wildlife refuge. This previously undisclosed land swap proposal has raised concerns among some environmentalists and archaeologists. They fear that SpaceX's development activities could harm the area, which is not only a habitat for several endangered species but also contains historical artifacts from the Civil War era.
