Two ministries issued a new policy on cruise transportation and tourism services to help improve the quality and efficiency of the cruise economy.
Today, the State Council Information Office held a press conference, and Yang Huaxiong, Director of the Water Transport Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, stated that the cruise industry has a long industrial chain and strong driving force, making it a new economic growth point. The Party Central Committee and the State Council attach great importance to the development of the cruise economy. Last year, the State Council issued the "Regulations on International Cruise Ships Replenishing in Ports of the People's Republic of China"; in March of this year, the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the General Office of the State Council issued the "Plan for Boosting Consumption Special Action," proposing to continuously enrich cruise routes and tourism products. From January to November this year, the number of cruise passengers in China reached 1.265 million, a year-on-year increase of 27.8%, playing a positive role in promoting tourism development and expanding consumption. In order to implement the decision-making arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council to vigorously boost consumption, further cultivate and expand cruise consumption, and promote the development of the cruise economy, the Ministry of Transport has focused on addressing issues such as cruise ships that have not been renovated with shore power facilities unable to dock, and the lack of diversity in cruise route products. From the perspective of strengthening supply, improving service, and stimulating new demand, the Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, has formulated the "Several Measures to Further Promote the Development of Cruise Transportation and Tourism Services" and recently issued and implemented them.
