The leaders of central enterprises held a meeting in Beijing on December 22nd and 23rd. The meeting conveyed important instructions from President Xi Jinping. Li Keqiang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Li pointed out that the period of the 14th Five-Year Plan is a crucial stage for laying a solid foundation for basically achieving socialist modernization and making comprehensive efforts. Central enterprises should unify their thoughts and actions with the Party Central Committee's scientific judgment and decision-making arrangements regarding the situation, further clarify their position, find their direction, and effectively shoulder their responsibilities and missions. They should provide strong support for the promotion of major infrastructure construction, accelerate the renewal of traditional infrastructure and the digital transformation, and moderately advance the construction of new types of infrastructure. They should play a leading role in achieving the controllability of industrial chain supply chain, develop emerging industries and future industries in combination with their main responsibilities and businesses, ensure the supply of energy resources, and enhance the resilience of the industrial chain. They should strengthen basic support in promoting high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement, strengthen applied basic research, and improve the quality of supply of key common technologies. They should actively contribute to serving the country's major strategies and make greater contributions to overall development. They should further deepen the reform of state-owned assets and state-owned enterprises, take the lead in optimizing the layout of state-owned economy, improving the modern enterprise system, and enhancing the efficiency of state-owned asset supervision.
