The police say they have launched an investigation into the incident involving Kuaishou.
On the evening of December 22nd, many netizens reported that they encountered a large amount of pornographic content while watching live streams on the Kuaishou platform. Mr. Li, a netizen, told reporters that around 11 p.m. on the 22nd, he was originally watching a live stream by a funny blogger when he accidentally entered a pornographic live stream while scrolling down. At that time, the online viewers in the live stream room reached 100,000, and the live stream continued for about 20 minutes before being shut down. Mr. Li further stated that even after the live stream room was closed, he could still encounter similar content in other live streams and came across more than 10 instances. He believed that there are many adolescents among Kuaishou platform users, and such content could have a negative impact on their physical and mental health, hoping that the platform will deal with it promptly.
That night, reporters tried to enter the relevant live stream rooms based on the links provided by Mr. Li, but found that most of them had been banned, and some live streams ended within less than a minute of opening. In addition, on Weibo platform, topics such as "Kuaishou live stream", "What's wrong with Kuaishou", and "Kuaishou has a bug" had sparked widespread discussions among netizens. At the same time, the official Weibo account of Kuaishou had enabled a "selected comments" feature, with the page showing "Due to the blogger's settings, comments will be filtered by them before displaying".
On the morning of the 23rd, a Kuaishou staff member told reporters that around 22:00 on the 22nd, the platform was under attack by black and gray industries, and emergency repairs were currently underway. The platform firmly opposes illegal content, and the situation has been reported to the relevant authorities, with a police report filed. When reporters called the relevant department of the Haidian Branch of the Beijing Public Security Bureau as citizens, the staff responded that they were aware of the situation by 11 p.m. on the 22nd and had already taken action, with an investigation launched.
