In recent days, the news that German Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Olaf Scholz was annoyed by the purchase of Chinese electric buses by Deutsche Bahn has sparked much discussion in Germany. "Deutsche Welle" reported on the 22nd that in early December, Deutsche Bahn announced its largest bus order to date, totaling more than 3,300 buses, with Chinese company BYD providing about 200 electric intercity buses. Scholz complained about Deutsche Bahn's decision in a recent interview with German media, saying he hoped that during procurement, a "healthy patriotism" would be shown and more consideration given to German and European brands. Experts interviewed by the "Global Times" believe that Scholz's statement reflects Germany's anxiety about the competitiveness of its automobile products.
