On December 22nd local time, the Italian antitrust authority, the Italian Competition and Market Authority, announced that it has decided to fine Apple approximately 98.635 million euros for abusing its market dominance. The Italian antitrust authority determined that Apple's mandatory "App Tracking Transparency" policy for third-party developers providing apps to users through its app store on its mobile operating system since April 2021 restricts competition and violates Article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
