The main construction of the first phase of the Bailong Nuclear Power Plant has begun.
The Bailong Nuclear Power Project is located on Jiangshan Peninsula in Fangchenggang City, Guangxi. It is planned to build 6 million-kilowatt nuclear power units, with a total installed capacity of 8.62 million kilowatts, and a total investment of approximately 120 billion yuan. The first phase of the project adopts domestically designed and third-generation advanced nuclear power technology, with a single unit capacity of 1.25 million kilowatts. Cai Hongtai, the chief commander of the National Energy Investment Group's Bailong Nuclear Power Project in Guangxi, stated that after the completion and commissioning of the first phase of the project with two units, the annual power generation will be approximately 20 billion kilowatt-hours, reducing coal consumption by approximately 6 million tons per year, and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 16 million tons per year. The emission reduction effect is equivalent to planting approximately 44,000 hectares of broad-leaved forests.
