Federal Reserve's Hammack: Postponing rate cut is my current baseline forecast.
Beth Hammack, President of the Cleveland Fed, stated that the monetary policy is currently at a good level and they can pause rate cuts to assess the impact of a 75 basis point cut on the economy. Hammack is currently focused on bringing the inflation rate back to target levels. Economic data received by policy makers shows that the core consumer price index rose 2.6% year on year in November. Hammack mentioned that she will not put too much emphasis on any single economic report and hopes to spend time observing a broader economic situation before the next meeting.
