Spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Chen Binhua, answers questions from reporters. Question: Recently, mainland China's coast guard once again entered the "restricted waters" around Kinmen for law enforcement patrols. Does the Taiwan Affairs Office have any information on this and do you have any comments on it? Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu are all parts of China. The waters between Xiamen and Kinmen have always been traditional fishing grounds for fishermen from both sides, and there is no such thing as "restricted waters." The mainland coast guard conducting regular law enforcement patrols in the relevant waters is beneficial for maintaining order in fishing activities at sea and ensuring the safety of fishermen from both sides. We warn the DPP authorities to recognize the history and objective facts of fishermen from both sides operating in traditional fishing grounds together, and to stop arbitrarily seizing or treating mainland fishing boats and fishermen with dangerous and violent methods. Otherwise, they must bear all consequences.
