Beijing's ratio of returning fraudulent funds is among the top in the country, with prosecutors helping migrant workers reclaim 170 million yuan in unpaid wages.
On December 19th, the Beijing Municipal People's Government Information Office held a special press conference as part of the series on high-quality completion of the capital's "14th Five-Year Plan", focusing on the theme of "Building a Higher Level of Safe Beijing and a First-Rate Zone of Rule of Law in China". Reporters learned at the conference that the Beijing Public Security Bureau has achieved a 100% clearance rate for homicide cases for 11 consecutive years, robbery cases for 7 consecutive years, and robbery cases for 5 consecutive years, with the overall criminal registration rate hitting a 20-year low. Tian Xia, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Political Department of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, reported that the number of cases of non-contact fraud has been gradually decreasing in recent years, and the proportion of recovered fraud funds ranks among the top in the country. Focusing on the rule of law needs of the capital's residents, a comprehensive version of the Beijing procuratorate's "act upon complaints" system has been established to screen wage arrears clues through a legal supervisory model, helping migrant workers reclaim unpaid wages totaling 170 million yuan through support for lawsuits and other means. In terms of protecting public interests, models such as the motor oil tax evasion and the Great Wall protection models have been used to help recover losses of over 1.1 billion yuan in state-owned property.
