Hong Kong Economic Journal: Hong Kong is expected to issue the first batch of stablecoin licenses in early 2026.

According to the Hong Kong Economic Journal, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of Hong Kong, Christopher Hui, stated that the first batch of stablecoin licenses is expected to be issued in early 2026. They will prioritize prudent reserve management, price stability, and anti-money laundering measures. As of the end of September, 36 stablecoin license applications have been received from various industries.
