Mexico plans to increase tariffs starting next month, home appliance companies adjust overseas production capabilities in response.
Mexico plans to impose tariffs of 5% to 50% on products from several Asian countries, including China, starting from New Year's Day in 2026. The tariffs will affect industries such as automobiles, electronics, steel, and furniture. Some white goods exports to Mexico will be affected, while industry insiders say the impact on black goods will be minimal. Some interviewed companies have stated that they will fulfill orders through overseas factories to counter the tariffs. Wang Juan, a senior analyst at an online industry portal, told reporters that Mexico's imposition of 15% to 30% tariffs on Chinese home appliances may eventually force businesses to adjust their overseas production layout or restructure their supply chain.
