The space data center is becoming a new competitive track for U.S. companies.
According to Global Times, with the rapid development of the artificial intelligence industry, moving data centers into space has become a promising track for several American tech giants. The magazine "People" reported on the 17th that a report from the Pew Research Center showed that there are about 4,000 data centers operating or under construction in the United States. However, the significant amount of electricity they consume is posing a challenge for American residents as it may lead to an increase in electricity prices. Data shows that by 2023, data centers will consume about 4.4% of the electricity in the United States, and it is estimated that this proportion will reach 12% by 2028. Some industry insiders believe that launching data centers into space may be more cost-effective.
