In the previous year, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Shenzhen exceeded 140 billion yuan, an increase of 1.86% from the previous year.
Recently, the Shenzhen Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau, the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, and the Municipal Statistics Bureau jointly released the calculation results of Shenzhen's Gross Ecosystem Product (GEP) for the year 2024. GEP is the total value of the final products and services provided by ecosystems for human well-being and sustainable economic and social development, including the value of material products, regulatory services, and cultural services. The results of the calculation show that Shenzhen's GEP for the year 2024 is 142.918 billion yuan, an increase of 26.13 billion yuan compared to the previous year, a year-on-year growth of 1.86%. In terms of land area, Shenzhen's GEP per unit area is 0.72 billion yuan per square kilometer, an increase of 2.86% year-on-year, continuing the trend of stable and progressive development. Cultural tourism services and regulatory services are the main services provided by the Shenzhen ecosystem. Among them, the highest value is for cultural tourism services at 744.18 billion yuan, accounting for 52.07%; regulatory services are valued at 666.38 billion yuan, accounting for 46.63%; and the value of physical products is 18.62 billion yuan, accounting for 1.30%.
