The UAE establishes the National Media Council.

The government of the United Arab Emirates issued a federal decree on the 18th to establish a National Media Authority. The decree stipulates that the National Media Authority will take over the functions of the UAE Media Commission, the National Media Office, and the Emirates News Agency, assuming their rights, obligations, as well as existing legal and contractual arrangements. This new agency is a federal public institution under the UAE cabinet, responsible for developing national media strategies, industry regulation policies, and content standards, covering traditional media, digital media, publishing institutions, and overseeing the implementation of related measures.
