At the 2025 Global Data Technology Conference, Yuan Yuan, president of Huawei's data storage product line, stated that China is already a global data powerhouse, but data corpus construction still faces key challenges. The data retention rate in China is only 2.8%, and high-quality industry data is scarce. For example, in the medical field, China's model training data is only about 10% of that of leading Western countries. A large amount of city and enterprise data is still stored in "isolated islands," with a data sharing rate of less than 25%. Yuan suggested that at the city level, cities should play a role as hubs and build advanced storage centers. At the industry level, collaborative data sharing platforms should be established to promote the intelligent integration of data from dispersed sources, enabling high-quality industry knowledge bases to empower the ecosystem. At the enterprise level, efforts should be made to build AI data lake foundations, strengthen overall data sharing, efficient management, and agile usage.
