On December 17, Kyodo News reported that Honda Motor Co. revealed on that day that due to a shortage of semiconductor components, Honda's vehicle production at its factories in Japan and China will be temporarily suspended or reduced from late December to early January next year. Honda stated that its joint venture factory with China's GAC Group will be shut down for 5 days starting on December 29. The Japanese factories will also be halted for two days on January 5th and 6th, with production from the 7th to 9th of January being lower than originally planned.
